Players and friends gathered under the string lights between matches
XXThe twentieth season · Est. 2004-ish · New York

Builders, at play.

Silicon Alley Sports gets New York’s tech community outside a few times a year. We play, everyone talks to everyone, and whatever’s left over goes to our impact partners. It started with eight friends and a golf game in 2004.

Play well, do good

The golden rules

There are more competitive sporting events. There are bigger fundraising events. The magic is the combination of both, with the golden rules we’ve laid out.

1

No assholes.

2

Leave your ego at home.

3

Talk to anyone and everyone.

4

No one eats alone.

5

Be present.

Why we play

Profit margin: 0.00%.
By design.

Everything left when the season closes goes to our impact partners. So far that has meant Code.org, Meals on Wheels, the American Cancer Society, Charity: Water, Venture for America, and more. This season’s impact partner is Sandy Hook Promise.

For me, SAS events are all about the people. Darren does an incredible job of including talented and, most importantly, good people. Everyone I've met (literally everyone) has been positive, open and interesting. I have met many people who I now consider friends - and who are happy to jump in and help when I need advice, feedback or a connection.

Since 2004, the whole idea

Play well,
do good.

Our supporters

Meet them all →

We call them supporters, not sponsors. They’re companies our people actually want in the room, and each spent a year in the ecosystem before coming aboard.
